The conference generally involved the matter of seeking to exclude certain parts of the proposed Wilderness Area important to the Tri-County Planning Commission plans for water storage and flood control. The same matters were outlined at this meeting as were presented at the public hearing held in Luray some weeks ago. Rappahannock also is vitally interested in water storage plus keeping the fire trails open. As a follow up, it was proposed that all counties affected both directly and indirectly whose source of water is involved, submit proposals from their respective planning commissions as to the area appropriate to be excluded, to serve their water needs, in order that Senator Byrd and Representative Marsh might study the entire matter in detail. Counties involved would be Madison, Greene, Orange, Albemarle, and Culpeper.
McCauley Named Manager Pctomac Edison District
Eugene W. McCauley has been named Manager of The Potomac Edison Company’s Luray District -- which includes this area -- effective July 1. He succeeds Aubrey McDaniel, who has terminated his active career with PE June 30 for an extended vacation prior to his official retirement on August 1. Mr. McDaniel’s retirement brings to an end a 38-year career with PE, which included positions at Keyser, Martinsburg, Hagerstown and Front Royal. He has served as Luray District Manager since 1954. Mr. McCauley has been with Potomac Edison since 1936 and has held positions at Petersburg and Frostburg. He has been Assistant Manager of Luray District since January, k966.
