Revival at Woodville
Revival services will be held at the Woodville Baptist Church from Sunday, July 9 through Friday, July 14. Services will begin at 8 p. m. each evening. The Rev. George Williamson, pastor of Mt. Lebanon and New Salem Baptist churches will be the speaker. The public is invited to attend.’
Chester Gap Firemen
Gross Over $4,700
The Chester Gap Fire Department grossed over $4,700 during the four night carnival held there last week. Since the department owns its rides and other expenditures were kept at a minimum, the organization will realize a good net. Highlights of the annual fund raising event included a display of fireworks Thursday night, crowning of a carnival queen Friday and the awarding of prizes the closing night. Miss Barbara Atkins captured the title of Miss Chester Gap and received her tiara from Miss Joyce Mahoney, the 1966 crown winner. Miss Atkins and her family moved to the community recently from Markham. Runners up were Misses Betty Rutherford and Wanda Wines. Each girl received a gift and a corsage. The grand prize of $500 awarded Saturday night went to Betty Wood of Rileyville. A second prize of $75 was given Ed Stump of Front Royal and third place winner was Wayne A. Wines of Rt. 1, Front Royal who received $25. A prize was awarded Friday night in connection with the queen contest. It was a clock radio and went to John Affleck of Front Royal. At a public auction held recently, the Chester Gap group made $350 for the department. The Chester Gap Firemen expressed appreciation to all who attended and supported the department's carnival, and all who worked, contributed or assisted in any manner with both of these events.
