were some of the issues raised at North Conway last week. This past week two clergymen from this area, the Rev. Messrs. Charles F. Glaenzer of Washington, and David J. Greer of Warrenton were sent by the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, to the North Conway Institute, New Hampshire. It was at this Institute, where Scientists who worked on the million-dollar study for the U. S. Department of Health Education and Welfare, gave insights into their findings in their six-year study on Alcohol problems in the U. S. The conference membership concentrated on how best to program helping action at community level, with the Church in full cooperation on an inter-faith basis with all community resources. One of the basic issues facing any community with respect toalcohol problems, Is how to mobilize community interest in dealing with this “illness". Everyone who holds his own family bias, religious bias, or cultural bias tends to shut out genuine consideration of changing or “updating" his own prejudice on this subject. The person who has his mind “all made up" is a major part of the “alcohol problem", in every community. To remedy this, and to enlighten our own personal ignorance, we need to be willing to openly discuss th6 issues inVblved in our culture, with regard to the current use of beverage alcohol in any form.
