2.19 Inches of Rain in July
Rainfall in t^e first 18 days of July has measured 2.19 inches in the Town of Washington, according to Miss Ruby Jenkins who keeps tabs on the official guage. In comparison, the entire month of July 1966 saw only .91 of an inch. Gardens, fields and trees are flourishing but continual showers are interfering with grain harvest. Prospects for a good apple harvest in Rappahannock are excellent. This county is reported to have about the best crop in the state. Reports from Clarke and Frederick, close by, predict from 70 to 85 per cent harvest.
