Country Music Meet
The 17th Annual National Championship Country Music Contest sponsored by the Warrenton Fauquier Jaycees will take place this year on August 5th and 6th at Whippoorwill Lake near Warrenton, Virginia. The competition annually draws a large number of contestants who are attracted by the $1,500.00 in prize money which is offer ed in addition to the competition.
This year’s show offers coun try music lovers an opportunity to enjoy the talents of "Grand Ole Opry" stars, Bill Anderson and Jean Shep pard....Miss Shepard, whorecords for Capitol Records will appear on Saturday .nights' show which will begin at 6 p.m. The Sunday afternoon show will begin at 1:00 p.m. Appearing on Sunday will be Bill Anderson and his breat band the "Po Boys". As a part of the weekend activities will be the stringdusters Band of Hunters Lodge. This musical group for the past several years have distinguished themselves at Whippoorwill Lake not only with their own performance but also providing the all important background music for many of the competitors. Again this year thousands of spectators are expected for the bigger and better national championship country music contest sponsored by the Warrenton Fauquier Jay cees at Lake Whippoorwill. Be sure to mark the dates on your calendar and plan to attend August 5th at 6:00 p.m. on August 6th at 1:00 p.m.
