He also visited his brother James, a patient in Fairfax hospital who sustained injuries in a recent accident at the Manassas Speedway. James is reported to be improving. Mrs. Victoria Corder undeF went surgery last week in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Corder of Portsmouth were visit ors during the week-end of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scott and family.

School Absentees
An absentee study was conducted during the 1966-67 school year in the John Kerr School, Winchester, to determine what kinds of sickness kept children at home most often. Colds, flu and other respiratory diseases account ed for 52% of all reasons for absence. This is a little lower than the national figure of 55% The John Kerr Schook, which has an enrollment of 352 pupils, was chosen for this study as it is representative of a wide socio-economic range. Tabulations made by the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Northern Virginia revealed that 76% of the children accounted for all abser> teeism, indicating that 24% of the students had perfect attendance. A doctor was consulted for 36% of the illness
