Three Sconts Named
For Order of Arrow
Three members of Boy Scouts of America Troop #64, Washington, Va. have been selected for the Order of the Arrow, one of the highest honors in scouting. They are William Payne, Amissville, Mike Massie and Jay Cargill, Washington. These boys are chosen on the basis of leadership, good conduct and sincere feeling for the ideals and principles of scouting. After being selected in their local group, they were presented at a ceremony held Friday evening at Camp Rock Enon, Gore, Va. where Scouts from the troop were spending the week. Under the direction of Scoutmaster T. C. Lea, jr. and Assistant Scoutmaster Skippy Giles 14 boys from Troop #64 Washington and one from Troop #65, Sperryville, attended the camp. Those attending were William Payne, Mike Massie, Jay Cargill, Charles Jenkins, Howard Walters, Wik liam Jones, Jerry Smoot, Mark Miller, Randy Jones, Champ Carney, Bill Snead, Mike Foster, Floyd Alther and Jimmy Buckingham, and Bill Kilby, Sperryville. Scout leaders assisting with the group were Roger Hawkins, Jimmy Jenkins and Ned Moffett Jones. Merit badges earned by each during the week of camp are: Jimmy Buckingham, nature and swimming; Jay Cargill, Life 8 a v i n g; Cham p Carney, basketry, leatherwork and forestry; Mike Foster, personal fitness; Charles Jenkins, petsonal fitness; Randy Jones, botany; William Jones, botany and personal fitness; Bill Kilby, rowing, lifesaving, cooking, personal fitness and camping; Mike Massie, cooking, forestry and swimming; William Payne, botany * swimming and personal fitness; Jerry Smoot, swimming Bill Snead, nature, lifesaving; Howard Walters, personal fitness.
