Amissville Firemen’s annual carnival opened last night and will continue through Saturday night. The Wednesday night feature of the carnival was a display of fireworks. Scheduled tonight, Thursday is a parade which will begin at 6:30 p.m. and entries include floats, bands, marching units, majorettes, comics, fire and rescue equipment, beauty queens and many more Good food, a specialty of the village, will be available each night at the food stand under the auspicps of the Ladies Auxiliary and a special box supper will be served tonight following the parade. Cakes, pies, coffee and drinks will be on sale. A young lady from the area will become the queen of the festivities and will receive her tiara in a ceremony scheduled for Friday evening. A number of girls are competing for the title and the winner will be announced just before she receives her crown. Exciting rides are found on the midway along with games and other amusements. A variety of fun and excitement abound for all.
Church Notice
There will be no morning worship at the Woodville Baptist Church on Sunday, August 13, however, Sunday School will be held at the regular time. The Rev. B. G. Titchenell is on vacation and will not be present for services.
