The public should be informed about the actions and judgments of some of the members of the Board of Supervisors. It would behoove those 4 who are challenging any of the incumbents to sit through these meetings and publicize their findings. The Board for two months now has tabled a request for the purchase of a screen door for the C$>urt House, and this month th£ motion tabling the request was accompanied by giggles when one supervisor remarked that by this time fly time would soon be over and there would be no need for a screen door then. the recommendation by Judge j Snead for the payment of $150 by the county toward the expenses of Judge Lea in attending a judicial conference. They reasoned that the Judge was already an educated man and needed no further training for his job. They happily disposed of this negatively when informed by the Commonwealth Attorney that it wasn't legally a proper county expense. Should these two cases have; received affirmative action, there would have been no “pork for the barrel", but there was a case hastily acted upon in an affirmative manner in the February meeting which involved far more money than these two requests. This had to do with the handling of a $700 sheep claim. During a period of approximately two months, 48 sheep - 22 ewes and 26 lambs - were reported killed by a band of wild dogs, which had since moved on to Fauquier County. According to the young overseer, about 10 of these dogs had been killed by him and his employee. The dog warden states that he received a telephone message the first of October that dogs had been in these sheep. He went to this farm the same day but was unable to find anyone who knew anything about the happening. He heard nothing more about this and was not contacted again until December 20, at which time the supervisor of this district telephoned him stating that the
