Watershed Projects
A report on preliminary investigation of Watershed projects in Rappahannock County will be presented the public at a meeting scheduled for Monday, August 14 at 8 p.m.inthe Sperryville Elementary School. A study of watershed projects, particularly in the Sperryville area, have been completed by the Soil Conservation engineers. Watershed projects are local interest projects which have to be sponsored by local people, local government and the Soil and Water Conservation District. Soil Conservation personnel will also outline pro cedures necessary for local citizens to follow in developing a watershed. A watershed is for flood con trol purposes and local people concerned desire its impound ment, structures may be added for water supply and recreational purposes. Since some of the areas suitable for watershed projects are adjacent to Shenandoah National Park, Superintendent Taylor Hoskins has been asked to attend the meeting. A project of this type could have mucji influence on the economic growth of the county could affect water supply of other area8 in the county, trunk line sewage. Industry, etc. Therefore, the presence of Rappahannock citizens is invited and urged.
