Virginia has eight highway districts, divided Into 45 residencies. Rappahannock Is Included In the Warrenton Residency with Fauquier County which has Mr. Skeen6 as the Resident Engineer. There are 152 employees In the residency 20 of them In Rappahannock. The monthly payroll for the residency Is $67,000. Mr. Skeens stated that many Improvements and some construction on roads have been accomplished with the state forces, thus keeping costs much below contracting prices. The key word for the success of this Is coordination, he said.
Rappahannock has 217 miles of secondary roads and 53 miles of primary highways. The arterial system, which in eludes dual laning Route 211, has 1975 as Its completion date, however, this will depend on funds available In the coming years. It has already been slowed by a monetary lag. Following lunch and Mr. Skeens’ remarks, a tour of road improvements was made. Those attending the luncheon were Supervisors L. H. Luttrell, E. M.
