Captain Reid is Master of the S. S. Brasil, a passenger cruise ship of the MooreMcCormack line.
He was born in Flint Hill, son of Mrs. Charles G. Reid, now of Washington, Va., and the late Mr. Reid. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and was affiliated with several steamship companies in the next few years. He joined the \loore-McCormack Line in 1949 as a junior officer on the old S. S. Argentina, then became executive officer of the S. S. Brasil in 1955. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1955 to 57 as navigator of the Amphibious Command ship Pocono which served as flagship for Admiral Walter F. Boone, U. S. Naval Commander-in-Chief, Naval Forces Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean during the Suez crisis.
Prior to returning to passenger ships, Captain Reid served on several Moore-McCormack cargo liners. He was Master of the S. S. Argentina before taking command of the S. S. Brasil.
