Police Supt. Woodson

Retiring Dec. 31st

Colonel C. W. Woodson, ,Jr., Superintendent of State Police, has tendered his resignation effective December 31 of this year. He has held that office longer than any other person in America, 25 years. Major H. W. Burgess will succeed him. In submitting his resignation Colonel Woodson said there were very few administrative positions in the department and for an administrator to continue working beyond the retirement age applicable to other members of the organization tends to stifle essential initiative to reach the top. He added that they were fortunate in having a large number of men with outstanding administrative capacity, ability and training.
