Hie general hunting season in Virginia opens this Monday, November 18, 1968 which means almost everything will be in season. The major difference from last year is that doe deer are not legal until the last day of the season this year. Hiis will be Saturday, January 4, 1969 in Rappahannock and adjoining counties East of the Blue Ridge. For those hunting West of the Blue Ridge, November 30, will be a doe day. As last year turkeys will not be legal game in Rappahannock, Madison, or Greene counties this Fall. Also please note that in open counties, including Culpeper and Fauquier, the season does not open Monday, but will open December 16, 1968. Turkey season is now open West of the Blue Ridge and will close December, 17, 1968. Also a change from last year, bearded turkeys only may be taken East of the Blue Ridge.
Hunt safely. Most accidents involve shotguns, most occur while hunting small game, most happen at ranges under 60 yards and most accidents happen on clear days in open cover. Three hunters had been accidently killed even before the small game
