Station. Oceanography is being studied then. Big Sur is a rural community living on what many believe to be the most beautiful coast line in the world. There is San Luis Obispo, the gateway to Highway one, the Hearst Castle and the scenic route to the Big Sur Country and the Montemy Peninsula. John told us that beginning October 1 the tours would stop at the Hearst Castle. I have pictures of it in a book I bought. We saw homes of movie stars and the two different places where the picture “The Sandpiper” was made. The road all the way is around the Coastal Range and right on the edge of the bank high above the ocean. Some of the group got somewhat upset by the ride, but this mountaineer just thrilled over it.
We went to San Simeon where we had lunch at the San Simeon Lodge. We had been warned not to eat too much for we were going to stop at a Danish Village where they made the most delicious pastries. After lunch we went to the Exotic Gardens - here were all types of cacti. I got a
