As an added security measure, the photo card is laminated with a special plastic which forms a chemical bond so strong that any attempt to remove the plastic instantly destroys the image.

Initial plans call for the installation of the instant photographic systems in all of the full-time Division of Motor Vehicles examining stations. Another twenty-six systems will go “on-the-road” to serve one hundred twenty-three stations on a regular schedule.

As in the past, an operator’s license renewal application will be mailed to the applicant prior to the expiration of his current license. This application must be presented at one of the Division of Motor Vehicles examining stations. The application will be accompanied by exact information as to what is required of the applicant.

It will save time if the applicant has his application filled out before he appears at the examining station.

When a driver visits a motor vehicle station, a special data card is placed in the back of the camera, and in one exposure the camera simultaneously records the information from the card, including the driver’s signature and social security number, the person posing in front of the camera, and the state seal which is etched on a clear plastic plate that is inserted in the back of the camera. For security purposes, the seal overlaps the subjert and data sections of the card making it impossible to cut away either section without destroying the seal.
