Miss Joan Evelyn Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William W. Lee of Flint Hill, became the bride of Gerald Lynn Spence of Simi, California on Saturday, June 14, 1969. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar B. Spence. The marriage took place at the Marlow Heights Baptist Church in Front Royal at two-thirty o’clock.
The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. R. Woodside before an altar decorated with arrangements of white gladioli and white chrysanthemums. Lighted candelabra and palms completed the church decorations.
Miss Sandra Foster of Flint Hill was organist.
Mr. Lee gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a formal gown of white Florentine lace designed with an Empire bodice featuring a high neckline and long sleeves edged with a narrow satin band and ruffle of lace. A band of satin also accented the waistline and ended with a small front bow. The A-frame skirt was complemented with a ruffle-edged Watteau chapel train, which flowed softly from a small satin bow at the neckline. Her handrolled veil of imported silk illusion fell from a matching Camelot bonnet. Her only jewelry was a pearl necklace, a gift of the bridegroom.
