In commemoration of our Day of Independence, several interesting and exciting events are programmed for Rappahannock County. With the theme, “Rappahannock Then and Now”, an interesting exhibit is scheduled for display at the Rappahannock Library from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. In the evening, a program of band music, a patriotic reading and a display of fireworks will be held on the lawn at Avon Hall, home of Mr. and Mrs. William Carrigan. Plate lunches and other food will be available from noon until 7 p.m. at the Episcopal Church parking lot.
The exhibit at the Library will include hand crafts of Rappahannock from very early days through the present. Everyone is extended a cordial invitation to the exhibit and there will be no admission charge.
Band music beginning at eight o’clock will be wafted over the Avon Lake area through loudspeakers, and at 8:45 a live program will be presented by a group of high school students. Eddie Clark of Flint Hill will give a patriotic reading and several songs, including “America”, “Battle Hymn of the Republic”, “This Land is Your Land”, and “America the Beautiful” will be rendered by students and others with some audience participation.
Brent L. Bozell of Huntly, author, lecturer and publisher, will be guest speaker with “Reflections on the Day of Independence” as his topic. Mr. Bozell is the publisher of “Triumph” magazine and the
