Mr. Thornton has been awarded two D. F. C. medals and two Bronze Stars; an Air Medal with a V Device and an Army Commendation with a V Device; a Purple Heart and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He has received 46 Air Medals and an' Antarctic Expeditionary Medal.
Mr. Thornton and his wife, the former Linda Hundson of Culpeper, are presently residing at Sperryville. He plans to re-enter Virginia Polytechnic Institute and complete his studies.
