Letter to the Editor Dear Mrs. Latham:
The budget requested by the State Board of Education is being heavily cut at a time when State funds are needed to maintain and improve our current educational system. Additional money is badly needed to improve our present standards if any progress is to be realized in the public educational Held.
Items In the budget were cut which are essential and because of reductions, localities must bear 100% of any additional money required.
It has been reported that there is a wide percentage increase in budget request among certain Departments at the State level. Present operating budgets with requested increases show that Welfare is up 125.2%, Higher Education • 83.1%, Public Health
