OBITUARIES
William Jackson Brown
A military funeral service for William Jackson Brown of Sperryville was held Wednesday at Culpeper National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Brown, 53, a veteran of World War II, died March 22, 1971 at the Veterans Hospital in Washington, D. C.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Brown Jefferson of Sperryville.
Charles Lewis Updike
Charles Lewis Updike, 82, of Front Royal died in the Lynn Care Center of Warren Memorial Hospital March 23, 1971. He was born in Rappahannock County, a son of the late John Henry and Annie Kibler Updike. His wife, Mrs. Sadie Kemp Updike, predeceased him. Surviving are five sons, Byrd, Gilbert and John B. Updike of Washington, Va., Roland Updike of Brandy Station and A. P. Updike of Washington, D. C., and a Bister, Mrs. Lucille Fox of Brandy Station. A graveside service was held Wednesday at 3 o’clock in the Washington Masonic Cemetery conducted by the Rev. H. H. Hughes of Front Royal.
