Gibb Seeks 17th
District House Seat
Delegate Duncan C. Gibb of Warren County announced that he would seek the Democratic nomination for one of the two seats in the House of Delegates from the new 17th District. Mr. Gibb now serves in the House of Delegates from the 28th District composed of the counties of Fauquier, Rappahannock and Warren. Under the new re-apportionment law enacted by the General Assembly at the 1971 Session the 17th District was formed and includes the counties of Clarke, Fauquier, Frederick and Warren and the city of Winchester. There will be two Delegates elected from the entire District.
In making his announcement, Delegate Gibb stated that he regretted that Rappahannock County was not included in the new District, but he was pleased that Clarke, Frederick and Winchester had been added. He also stated that the experience he had gained during the past two sessions of the General Assembly would be of tremendous value in the effective representation of all the people in the 17th District. The Democrats from the 17th District will hold a convention in Front Royal on May 15th to elect two nominees. Prior to that time each county and city in the District will select delegates to the convention.
