If a producer designates set-aside acreage which is below average in productivity for his farm, his County ASC Committee will reduce the producer’s farm payment by an amount to reflect the difference in productivity of the set-aside acreage and the acreage on which the program crop is produced. Farmers signing up for one or more of the 1971 feed grain or wheat programs agree to set-aside part of their land - 20 percent of the feed grain base, and 75 percent of the domestic wheat allotment. The program signup period is underway now and continuous through April 9 at County ASCS Offices. After his crops are up - usually in May - a program participant certifies compliance with the programs he has signed up for, at which time he designates exactly his set-aside acreage. Following ertification, spot-checks may be made on the farm at any time to determine if farm program provisions have been fully complied with. Spot-checks may be conducted by either local or out-of-State ASCS compliance officials.
