Community Chorus, the Choral Society of Cliffside Park, (N. J.), the Madrigal Singers of Montclair, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, the Marjorie Webster Junior College Chorale at the Nation’s Capital. He is also Director of Music for the Washington Pilgrimage. Additionally he serves as Vice President of the McIntosh Music Company. The Choir of the historic New York Avenue Presbyterian Church recently performed at the White House morning worship service. There will be a a carillon recital at 7:45 p.m., Charles T. Chapman, Carillonneur. The Sunset Vesper Program will begin at 8:15 p.m. The program leaders for the evening will be the Reverend Richard Umberger and the Reverend James Curry, both of Luray. As thousands of vacationers trek to the ocean beaches and inland lakes to escape the heat this summer, they are shadowed by thieves whose business it is to go where the action is, notes the Insurance Information Institute.
A beach parking area can be the closest thing we have to the Sahara Desert, and vacationers who dread returning to an ovenhot car will leave windows open, unwittingly inviting thieves to help themselves. Most bathers want as little with them as possible on the sandy shores, so cameras, handbags, clothing, binoculars, and even billfolds are left in the car while the owners soak up the sun.
The professional thief is deterred only momentarily by a locked glove compartment; so cash, watches and jewelry should either be left at home, in the trunk and out of sight or kept with you on your beach blanket, the Institute advises.
