With Wool Contest
The Make It Yourself - With Wool Contest is well underway. To strter a gifl must knit or sew a 100 f>ercenU!vot>l,suit, coat, or dress from American yarn or American loomed, knitted or felted fabric. She must model her own garment before judges and appear in fashion shows beginning at the District level. The District Contest will be held October 16, 1971 at Harrisonburg, Va. The State Contest is set for December 3 and 4 in Blacksburg. Entrants must pass District and State levels before going on to the National finals January 20, 1972 in Phoenix. Arizona. Selection and construction (including, pattern alternation, layout, cutting, pressing and >ewing or knitting) must be done ay the girl herself. She may be idvised and taught, however, advisors and teachers cannot cut, oress, sew or knit on the competition garment. The garment must be made after January 1, 1971. The contest is divided into two age groups - Juniors (14-16) and Seniors (17-21). The top prize in National Competition in both Junior and Senior Division will be a European Trip. Other national prizes include scholarships and saving bonds, luggage, wardrobes. District and State prizes include fabric, knitting wool, cutting boards and sewing kits.
