Search Is On
The big tree search is on!
Jointly sponsored by Virginia Forests. Inc., and the Extension Division of Virginia Tech, the purpose of the search is to find the largest trees in the state.
"It is the kind of activity that the whole family can enjoy while they roam the great outdoors,” said Will A. McElfresh, assistant professor and extension specialist in forestry’ at Virginia Tech.
The search will locate the biggest of each of Virginia’s 137 known tree varieties. To date, 33 champions have been located. Any trees in the state are eligible for nomination.
