Promoted to sergeant were Investigator J. L. Lettner of Chesapeake, who will go to Lexington; Trooper L A. Graham ;>f Altavista, who will go to Chesapeake, and Trooper J. L. Slater of Alexandria, who will go to Salem.
All promotions become effective July 16, 1971.

Registration At
Lord Fairfax College
William C. B. Berghaus, Registrar at Lord Fairfax Community College, announced that students may register for fall classes at Lord Fairfax Community College Monday through Friday from 9-12 a.m. and from 1 4 p.m. during the rest of the Bummer. Students should call the college to make an appointment to register. Berghaus said that former students and students who will be entering college for the first time in September are eligible to register during the summer. There will also be a special evening registration on Thursday, July 29, from 5-9 p.m. for those who cannot get to the college during the day. Berghaus urged students to register early because enrollment in classes is limited on a first come basis.

About 40 percent of the men who “retire” on social security continue to work at least part time, according to Mrs. Hazel F. Crumpton, social security district manager in Winchester. That estimate is based on a survey of men who had just begun to collect monthly social security retirement benefits. Eligible workers can claim full social security retirement benefits at 65or reduced benefits at age 62. The survey indicated that 20 percent of the men starting to get social security retirement benefits are self-employed, Mrs.
