Camp At Rock Enon
The Boy Scouts of Flint Hill Troop 36 spent the week of July 411 at Camp Rock Enon, Gore, Va. with their Scoutmaster Paul Nichols. Charlie Swaim, the elected patrol leader, led the troop through a very successful week of scouting skills and activities, such as camp cleanliness, rowing, canoeing, swimming and foot races. Those in attendance were: Charlie Swaim, Tim Criss, Otis Jordan, Kevin Raney, Jeff Foster, Andy Nichols, Barry Christian, Mike Raney, Curtis Nichols, Roy Grigsby, Bill Scoggin, Jimmy Tolson and Mike Williams.
Sammy Dwyer of Sperryville was selected to go with the Flint Hill troop as a non-scout who has potential for being a good scout and an asset to any troop,
A number of merit badges were earned by the boys in the field of swimming, conservation of natural resources, forestry and camping.
Andy Nichols of Flint Hill Boy Scout Troop 36 was appointed by the director of Camp Rock Enon to serve on the staff as waterfront instructor for the remainder of the camp season. In this capacity, he will teach beginning swimming and teach and counsel candidates for the Swimming Merit Badge.
