Farm Show Winner
A special pat on the back is in order for the Rappahannock 4H’ers who competed in last week’s Culpeper Area Farm Show.
C. G. Thornhill, a veteran of the show ring, won the Grand Champion Pen of Three Market Hog trophy with his home raised Hampshires. Following in their older brother’s footsteps, David and Melaine Thornhill each brought home their share of 2nd and 3rd place ribbons in the market hog competition. Donna Cannon’s home raised Angus won the blue ribbon in the Early Junior Heifer Class and then went on to become the Reserve Champion Angus heifer of the show. This heifer also placed 3rd in the Northern Virginia Angus Heifer Show and has been accepted for the Spotlight Show and Sale that will be held in October. Ann Baumgardner’s young wire haired terrior “Lady Teirshad” won the Senior Obedience Best in Show Trophy. Competing in the four county talent show were: Bridget Brown, Kevin Raney, Brenda Printz and Charla Sisk. Brenda placed aid in the Senior Division with her song and guitar accompaniment and Charla placed third with a pantom ine. All the 4-H’ers did a superb job. County 4-H’ers competing in the Horse Show were listed in last week’s paper.
