were at National Airport Sunday to meet their daughter, Cassie, who had been visiting in Michigan. Lester Yates celebrated his 80th birthday on July 27 with Mrs. Yates and daughters Janet and Lois. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Yates of Elkton and grandson Eric. Clyde Atkins was in Elkins, N. C. last Tuesday to attend funeral services for his aunt, Mrs. Kate Judd. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Payne of Alexandria and Miss Shirley Brown of Bethesda, Md. were weekend guests of Mrs. Catherine Brown. Additional guests Sunday were Miss Shirri Eller of Salem and Mr. and Mrs. Benny Brown and daughter, Beverly of Winchester.
Mrs. Robert W. Brown accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Brown and daughter Kelly of Culpeper spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Butler and daughter, Susan in Springfield.

Mr». DdForrest Matteson
*Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Matteson, 83, of Sperryville died Sunday, August 1,1971 in Culpeper Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of the late DeForrest A. Matteson of Chicago, 111. and was a native of that city.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James P. Jamieson of Sperryville with whom she had been making her home.
A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 p.ip. in Graceland Cemetery in Chicago.
