preparation and tree planting work. Most cutover woodland and old fields will qualify. A landowner may plant trees and receive cost sharing on as little as 5 acres or as much as 500 acres per year.
In addition, forestry crews are available that can help with the land preparation and tree planting. Landowners may rent State equipment, use their own equipment and labor, or hire private contractors to do the work. This new Reforestation of Timbeaiands Program should give many Virginia landowners the opportunity to improve timberlands.
