The Travelers Insurance Company, which is the Medicare Part B Carrier in the State of Virginia, has centralized its Roanoke and Norfolk operations in the Richmond Travelers office, reports Mrs. Hazel F. Crumpton, manager of the Winchester Social Security office. This consolidation was made to give the Medicare beneficiaries of Virginia a more uniform review and to improve claims processing.
“The move will make it possible for Travelers to employ the use of computers between their Virginia office and the home office in Hartford, Conn, where the Medicare claims are paid, Mrs Compton said. The Travelers Insurance Company states that moving its offices in Virginia and changing over to computers may cause a temporary delay in paying some Medicare claims. This delay is not expected to be extensive and will eventually result in better service to all Medicare beneficiaries in Virginia.
