Caumel School Adds
First Grade Class
Caumel Preparatory School will begin its second year with student orientation on Friday, September 3. The school, located at Ben Venue, was conducted last year for Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten students. This session there will be the addition of a first grade for children whose birthday will fall between October 1 and January 1.
Two new members are being added to the faculty this year. Kathryn Owens, specialist in preschool music and former teacher at Julliard School of Music and with stydios in New York, will work with the Caumel students. She will also be available for private instruction for all age groups in the local area.
Aney M. Massie, a graduate of Mars Hill College and Mary Washington College and a former teacher at Lakeside School in Richmond, will teach creative arts. Leola C. Melton, a graduate of Chowan and Wake Forest Colleges, will continue to serve as headmistress and teacher. Ruth Kilby will serve again as assistant.
