New Program Began
In Reforestation
A new Reforestation of Timberlands Program went into effect on July l, 1971 reports Don Heverling, Forester with the Virginia Division of Forestry for Greene, Madison, and Rappahannock Counties. It will provide generous financial help for landowners who would like to reforest their woodlands. It all began when the 1966 timber survey showed that pine timber in Virginia was being cut 15 percent faster than it was being grown. It is hoped that the new program can eventually correct the deficit. Landowners may receive up to 120 or $30 per acre for site
