J A committee named by the " manager, had selected the Outstanding Ball Player of the group. ‘ Mike Smoot received this citation. 5 Mike had done an outstanding job ' as pitcher and did equally as well hitting. Only two games were lost during the season compared with 12 wins, including the cham- ! pionship game with Calverton j with a final 2-1 score. 1 Newbill Miller of Washington who had assisted Mr. Settle with the coaching made a few remarks concerning their ability, accomplishments and attitudes. I He impressed upon the boys that ! winning was the result of doing I their very best and this should ’ extend to all things, not be limited to baseball. He said that Mr. Settle and Mr. Masterman had worked with the team for the good of the l boys, not for any personal gain or | recognition. Amissville Rescue Squad j responded to a call September 17 i to a traffic collision on Route 211 east of Amissville and took Franklin Lee Whorton to Fauquier Hospital, Warren ton. On the 19th Horace Hill was returned to his home from Fauquier Hospital.
