Duchesse Farm, a remodeled farm house owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. David Fannon will be one of the trio of houses open for the Annual House Tour and Dried Flower Arrangement Sale sponsored by the Women of Bromfield Parish, which will take place October 16 and 17. Located four miles west of Amissville on Route 211 Duchesse Farm is situated high on a hill, looking down the lovely valley made by the meandering of Battle Run. The original house was built in 1803 and the remodeling has been the work of many generations over the last century. It is furnished with a good balance of the old and rare, sprinkled with many family pieces from Mrs. Fannon's native Holland. Other houses open for the tour are The Meadows, owned by Willis Snell, in the town of Washington, and Blue Rock Farm, home of Mr. and Mrs. Ian Pryde and Mrs. Pryde’s sister, Mrs. Mary van Brederode, on Route 211, between Washington and Sperryville.
