A New Jersey motorist struck and killed a large deer Friday evening on Route 211 west of Sperryville. Samuel Edward Bickerstaff of Bentnor, N. J. was operating 71 Chrysler station wagon when he struck and killed the animal. Damage was estimated at $200 to his vehicle, according to Trooper J. B. Willis.
Women’s Club Features Country Store
The Rappahannock County Women’s Club will have its annual “Country Store” October 16 and 17 in Washington, Va. near Washington Antiques across from the parking lot of Trinity Episcopal Church.
The hours of the sale will coincide with the hours of the House Tour and Dried Flower Sale - 11-5 on Saturday and 1-5 on Sunday.
Homemade jellies, preserves, breads, cookies, cakes and crafts will be featured.

The annual membership meeting of the Rappahannock County Farm Bureau was held Monday, October 11, 1971 at the Court House in Washington, Virginia. The following officers were re-elected - President, Gordon Thornhill of Boston; VicePresident, General Daniel Noce of Sperryville; Secretary and Treasurer, C. S. Shillingburg of Sperryville and Brandy Station. Members elected to the Board of directors were - H. S. Barksdale, C. E. Johnson, Jr., Allen Stokes, Lee Payne, I. L. Parrish and Ian Pryde.
