Olney Mitchell
A funeral service for Olney Garnett Mitchell of Peola Mills was held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock st Etlan United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. B. B. Kent. Burial followed in Etlan Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell, 71, died October 8, 1971 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Willie and Cora R. Mitchell. He was a farmer and lifelong resident of Madison County. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Virginia Yowell; two daughters, Mrs. Mae Helen Carpenter of Culpeper and Mrs. Colene Shrader of Arlington; one son, Douglas D. Mitchell of Orange; two sisters Mrs. John Tanner and Mrs. Champ Blankenbaker, both of Culpeper; two brothers, Fred Mitchell of Baltimore, Md., and Thurman Mitchell of Haywood; and eleven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Harry Deal, Randolph Jenkins, Fred Coppedge, Charlie Robbin Coates, Albert L. Tanner, Frank E. Mitchell, Jr., Carroll Lillard and Thomas Carpenter.
