Following the evening service in the Baptist Church Sunday, Mrs. LaMerle Williams, organist and choir leader, was surprised by the choir members with a party honoring her birthday and in recognition of her untiring efforts in the musical department of the church. Many lovely gifts were received by Mrs. Williams and a large number of friends were present to wish her well. Marvin Nielsen, Jr., of Philadelphia visited Mark Griffith Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Bemie Burnette of Annandale visited Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Gilkey Saturday. The regular monthly meeting of the W.M.U. of the Baptist Church was held Monday night. Those present were: Mrs. Mary Mathena, Mrs. LaMerle Williams. Mrs. Evalyn Burke, Mrs. Annie Williams, Mrs. Frances Rudacille, Mrs. Marie Williams Mrs. Doris Williams, Mrs. Millie Jenkins, and Mrs. Judy Williams Mrs. James Lilly and Mrs. Donald Williams made a business trip to Winchester Thursday. The meeting of the Home Demonstration Club of Chester Gap, which was scheduled for this week, has been postponed until Thursday evening, October 21. Mrs. Bessie Parks is making satisfactory recovery from dental surgery.
