Editor: I would like to reply to the remarks made about me by General Noce of Rappahannock County. The General has long been a loud and lengthy spokesman for the unnecessary Rappahannock River dam at Fredericksburg although his county is nowhere near the proposed lake, He is very strong in favor of flooding out 7,000 acres of Fauquier County and 14,000 acres of Culpeper County, along with 150 families, and bulldozing down some 8,000 acres of forest land to make this unnecessary flooding.

Now speaking of bulldozing, let’s take a look at the way General Noce proposes to settle matters with me, who disagrees with him on the necessity for this “pork-barrel” project. He says, to quote from the Piedmont Virginian: “I hope we can settle this (Carter and I), or that I can take a pick handle and level it over his head and call him a such and such liar.”

In other words, if yor do not have the intelligence to win an argument use brute force; or as the General prefers, use a pick handle.
