AN EVENING performance of traditional folk and bluegrass music by wellknown singers and instrumentalists will inaugurate the activities of the Folk Music Society of the Blue Ridge on Monday evening, August 21, at the Cafe Curtain Call in historic Middletown.
The program, which begins at 8 p.m., is intended for persons “in the Shenandoah Valley area who are interested in supporting and promoting the understanding, appreciation, and performance of traditional American folk music.” During recent years, a rapid increase in the popularity of folk music festivals, contests, old-time fiddler’s conventions, and bluegrass festivals has brought together large numbers of people from different backgrounds and walks of life.
The performers appearing at this event represent a cross section of personal backgrounds and styles characteristic of the American folk music tradition.
