AS DUSK fell Friday evening a candlelight cere-f mony closed the 1972 session of the 4-H camp in Powell’s Fort Valley, which was attended by youth from Rappahannock, Warren and Clarke counties.
Ed Foster of Flint Hill served as Ishkatay (fire lighter) for the week’s campfires and Mary Jordan of Amissville was recognized as one of the outstanding campers for the week.
A presentation on Fire Safety, directed by Douglas Bywaters and Frank Huff of Flint Hill and Braxton James of Amissville — members of Rappahannock County Fire Association — was enjoyed by the group.
Campers from Rappahannock included Nils Aylor, Thomas Banks, Carolyn Beahm, Gary Dodson, Lewis Foster, Ed Foster, Arthur Gatewood, Betty Gatewood, Kim Gilkey, Darlene Grigsby, Debbie Grigsby, Donna Grigsby, Lois Ann Grigsby, Brenda Haines and Johnny Jenkins.
