“I’ve fox-hunted 40 years and run them with collars and nameplates ever since the deer came in, and 1 haven’t lost a dozen dog collars in years and years and years,” asserted Jack Bruce.
NEWBILL MILLER attempted to bring things to a head by asking if the Board wanted to increase the cost of the tags. Supervisor H. B. Wood Jr. allowed that it was “something to study.” Wood said one of the things that might be studied was putting alimit on claims. What if dogs killed an expensive horse? he asked rhetorically.
Foster and Latham agreed that setting safeguards against such an eventuality would be desirable. Miller noted that Mrs. David Fannon’s dogs had killed a foal “a couple of weeks ago. It was her dogs, but what if it hadn’t been?”
