HEALTH authorities are concerned that the percentage of young children who have been protected against such diseases as polio and measles is declining, posing the potential threat of epidemics.
An intensive campaign aimed at finding unimmun,-4zed pre-school age children and motivating their parents to seek immediate medical attention has begun. A number of public and private health agencies, voluntary service groups, pharmaceutical firms and the Center for Disease Control have joined forces to carry out the program.
In discussing which immunizations young children should receive, Dr. Mack I. -Shanholtz, Virginia’s Health Commissioner, gives top priority to six . diseases—polio, measles, German measles (rubella), diphteria, tetanus and pertussis(whooping cough).
