VIRGINIA sportsmenare reminded that the first muzzle loading weapons deer season ever to be held in the Commonwealth is scheduled to open during November 9-15, both dates inclusive. This coincides with the last six days of the bow and arrow season, which has been scheduled annually since 1954..
Legal weapons for use during this period must be single shot, muzzleloading guns of at least .45 caliber using a minimum of 50 grains of black powder and firing a single projectile. The use of muzzle-loading pistols will not be permitted during this primitive weapons season. Hunters participating in this new season will be limited to one buck deer which will count as part of their license year limit.
