DESPITE the coal strike settlement, Allegheny Power System companies—which include The Potomac Edison Company—are still appealing to all customers for resiraint in the use of electricity. The appeal is directed to individual residential users, commercial establishments, industries, and municipalities, according to company officials.
Coal stockpiles at some APS stations are nearing a dangerously low level since deliveries to power stations were cut off in mid-November as a result of the national strike in the coal industry. Practically all APS generation is coal-fired. Company officials said that even after the miners go back to work it will take from 10 days to two weeks for substantial deliveries to arrive at most power stations.
