CULPEPER County is the most recent Virginia county to adopt a land use tax plan. The County Board of Supervisors adopted the land use tax system last week by a vote of 5 to 2.
The Culpeper law, like those in existence in Fauquier, Loudoun and Prince William, permits lower tax assessments for land used for agriculture, horticulture and forestry. In Culpeper, the law was backed by the Farm Bureau Federation in the county, and was opposed by builders and developers.
