Deer harvest up
According to figures released by Game Biologist Supervisor Jack V. Gwynn the deer harvest for the just concluded hunting season is up slightly from the previous season. Total legal deer kill figures for the entire Commonwealth during the 1974-75 season was 61,904 as compared to the 60,798 total recorded for the 1973-74 season.
A comparison of areas on each side of the Blue Ridge revealed that East of the Ridge in the 74-75 season the total kill was 44,607 or 376 more than were recorded for the 73-74 season. West of the Blue Ridge during the 74-75 season 17,297 deer were harvested as compared with the 16,567 that were killed during the 73-74 season.
