Employment Commission as being available for suitable work,
APPLICANTS must report the names and addresses of employers for the last 52 weeks and have worked at least five days in Virginia. Benefits for eligible individuals are figured by a formula and will be approximately one-half their average weekly earnings for the 52 week period immediately preceeding the filing of a valid claim. An effort will be made by the Employment Commission to have previous employers verify the earnings reported by an applicant.
Suitable work is that which is within the skill level of the customary employment of the individual. Thus, an individual who has a work history of milking cows would not be expected to consider a job as machinist in an industrial plant suitable employment.
