Our RCHS basketball season ended last Friday with an alltime high when our JV and Varsity Panthers succeeded in defeating the William Monroe Dragons at William Monroe. There were lots of RCHS fans there to join the cheerleaders for that appreciated boost to victory.
Final scores were, Varsity 6959; JV 27-21. The team bus rocked all the way home with singing, cheering and special words of appreciation for all. Way to go, Panthers!
The S.C.A. in coincidence with the school improvement and spirit campaigning is working on a few projects. A plexi-glass covering is going to be put over the bulletin board in the new hall so work of art students can be displayed. The girls have decided to cheer up the ladies room by painting the doors and the trophy case in the corridor will also be painted.
The S.C.A. has decided to set aside money it presently has, for next year with the understanding it will be divided among designated school departments.
Things are looking hopeful though there is still trouble with some students in the areas of trash and gum disposal. PRIDE is the key word, and caring should be our main concern. Take time to be concerned—it’s worth the effort!
Two more RCHS students have been accepted at colleges; Lisa Day to Emory and Henry and Jim Lum to V.P.I. & S.U.
Our student body was entertained Friday by the Wayside Theatre group which presented skits and songs of folk tales. It was a casual and fun program for all.
Spring sports activities are becoming evident and organizational meetings have been held by both boys and girls track and baseball groups.
